Episode 02 · SCCA MAX 3 Build

Drivetrain Rebuild — Torsen T2R, Circle D 258mm Converter, MMR Cooling

The biggest single beat of the build. We're swapping in a Ford Racing Torsen T2R helical-gear LSD, an MMR rear-diff oil cooler kit and pre-drilled cover, the Circle D Ford 258mm Pro Series 6R80 torque converter, and the Ford Racing oil pan and pump kit. Every one of these parts has a job: keep the rear end planted through MAX 3 sweepers, keep the diff and oil temps under control through long sessions, and tighten up the 6R80 converter for cleaner launches.

Ford Racing Torsen T2R Differential
Helical-gear limited-slip — keeps both rear wheels driving through long, loaded MAX 3 sweepers without the noise and chatter of a clutch-pack diff.
MMR Rear Differential Oil Cooler Kit
Pump, lines, and remote cooler — drops diff oil temps under sustained track load, the single biggest reliability fix on a track Mustang.
MMR Differential Cover (Pre-Drilled & Tapped)
Heavy-duty cover with the cooler ports already machined — cleaner install, more fluid capacity, and stiffer than the OEM stamped cover.
Circle D Ford 258mm Pro Series 6R80 Torque Converter
Track-grade 258mm converter for the 6R80 — quicker stall, sharper launches, and better thermal capacity than the OEM unit.
Ford Racing Oil Pan & Pump Kit
Baffled pan + high-volume pump for the Coyote 5.0 — keeps oil at the pickup through sustained right-handers and prevents starvation under high lateral G.
